BMW R100 RT
In the early 1980′s motorcycle road racing was changing rapidly. Just a few years earlier, Reg Pridmore had won the inaugural AMA Superbike Championship aboard a BMW very much like this one. But by the beginning of the 1980′s, Japanese fours in the hands of riders like Wes Cooley, Eddie Lawson and Freddie Spencer were dominating the Superbike class. So a new racing formula, Battle of the Twins (BOTT), was developed exclusively for two-cylinder machines. This bike was raced by James Nicely in the BOTT class from 1982-1984. Air cooled 180 degree ‘boxer’ 1000cc engine, CC Products heads and forks, Keith Black Pistons, modified BMW frame, Fox shocks, Five speed Daytona transmission. Restored by and offered for sale by the long time motorcycle race team owner and sponsor Dick Lightner. A true example of a Superbike. Sold with a Bill of Sale.
