Vincent Jeff Decker Black Lightning

Vincent Jeff Decker Black Lightning

Jeff Decker, famous for his Rollie Free bronze sculpture and twice life-size hillclimb sculpture at the Harley Davidson Museum, built this Vincent Black Lightning to showcase the Vincent motor, minimize the rolling chassis yet keep all the great Vincent details. The bike has been featured in numerous magazines in America, Europe, and Japan.

There is likely no vintage motorcycle with greater reputation for performance than the Vincent, and top of the line was the rare limited production Vincent Black Lightning of which only 31 are said to have been hand assembled.

Many parts for this Vincent were sourced from Vincent specialist and authority, Herb Harris. This Vincent Black Lightning features crankcases once used by Marty Dickerson, two front Black Lightning heads to eliminate the need for a manifold and Black Lightning cams. Carburetors are Amal GPs with remote floats.

Decker created the overall custom look by removing unnecessary hardware while accentuating key Vincent pieces. The wheels are made from rare Lightning rims, 21 inch front and 20 inch rear, drilled for lightness. Hubs are Vincent Black Lightning but have been modified with hand fabricated heat sinks. Decker fashioned the exhaust system which, since Vincents lack a true frame, serves to protect the magneto. The speedometer is a Vincent Black Shadow laid down and out of the wind. Finishing the bike are rare Avon racing tires which many Bonneville racers used for their Land Speed Record attempts.

This Vincent runs and rides and comes with an Iowa title and a copy of several different magazines which did feature stories on Decker’s thought process and actual fabrication, his work in creating it. Other parts include:
