Vincent Black Shadow

Vincent Black Shadow

This Vincent Black Shadow engine with matching rear frame number RC10070B. Original front frame replaced with a 1949 C Rapide number RC5005. The front frame is believed to have been destroyed and has not recorded with the VOC. Works order forms are included and the cases have the matching numbers xx100. The engine was rebuilt two years ago with Steve Hamel doing complete head rebuild front and rear, new guides, exhaust inserts etc and low expansion pistons and cylinder muffs. Ken Rosevear did the crank and case work and Gary Robinson rebuilt the cams. The magneto was rebuilt by Doug Wood and the generator replaced with anAlton12V. The wheels were replaced using Akront alloy wheels with stainless steel spokes. ModernAvontires for safety have been used.

The bike was used regularly for VOC events and even won the longest distance ridden at theNiagaraevent, attesting to the excellence of the engine rebuild. The bike uses two front heads as was the race practice back in the 1950s, and amal 389 carburetors were fitted with the proper adapters. The holes in the various parts were placed by a previous owner.

New front brake drums and pads are fitted and the bike performs as it should. The clutch is the original design with a metal backed lightning disc. It has covered approximately 5000 miles since rebuild and was last ridden to the International VOC Rally inPennsylvania. It needs nothing to enjoy and ride.
